In Tales from the Magnificent Med, Dave Slamp, chooses a unique historical story from seven different countries that border the Mediterranean. Those countries include Egypt, Israel, Greece, Spain, Gibraltar, Italy, and Turkey.
For example, in the chapter about Turkey, Slamp features the story of the multi- breasted Goddess Artemis, the goddess of fertility. In another chapter about Pompeii, for instance, he shares the dramatic stories of Pliny the Elder and Pliny, the younger.
Tales from the Magnificent Med contains eight chapters in 100 pages. The book is prolific with pictures all taken by the author. About the Author
Dr. David Slamp (Dave Slamp) spent his life as a pastor and college professor. Since retirement he spends a great deal of time lecturing aboard cruise ships. These ships sale in the Mediterranean, the Adriatic, as well as the Black Sea. Dr. Slamp earned his doctorate at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. Since the 1990s, Dr. Slamp and his wife, Kathy Slamp, have led 12 pilgrimages to Israel, Egypt, Greece, and Turkey. These pilgrimages all center in and around the Mediterranean Sea.
